Module | What it includes |
Growth Mindset | In this section, we go through the definition of growth mindset and how it involves how you see yourself. When it comes to solving problems, how you think about your ability to solve problems has a big influence on if you'll solve those problems or not. One way of thinking about the difference between people who feel capable of solving problems and those who don't is through learning about cultivating a growth mindset. We take you through the power of 'yet' and give you a short quiz to reflect on your learning so far. |
Initiative |
We look into what initiative is and how you would define it. We give examples of this important trait and give you a reflection task involving how much initiative you think you have and if you shy away from being independent. We talk about how you can activate your initiative to improve your problem-solving capabilities. You can practice this by taking part in this sections exercise where you can spot the problems in the workplace. |
Imagination and Iteration |
Now that you've learned that a large part of improving your problem-solving skills is seeing yourself as someone who can solve problems, which can be done by adopting a growth mindset and taking the initiative, we look at thinking outside the box. Imagination is an important part of problem solving. The more you can develop your imagination, the greater your ability will be to think laterally and come up with creative solutions. This section has an interactive activity to help develop your learning on the topic. |
Extension Task | By this section, you'll have covered a lot of material. To really get to grips with what it all means, this task will put you to the test. This short quiz is designed to help you reflect on your learning and your understanding of the material you've learned in the previous sections. |
By completing this course, you'll learn valuable skills to use in the workplace. This topic is known as a power skill, and when you complete it, you'll learn how to develop a growth mindset to set a strong foundation for building on your problem-solving skills. You'll be able to identify four ways to develop and activate a stronger sense of initiative, including awareness, curiosity, bravery and communication and explore the connections between imagination and lateral and logical thinking, and find out how they support each other to improve your problem-solving skills.
