Our online Dealing with Difficult Situations training course is broken down into the following sections and can be completed at your own pace. The course includes:
Module | What it includes |
How do you Feel About it? |
In this section, we discuss how when we're part of or witness a difficult situation at work, it can trigger a strong physical and emotional response within us. We go through how simply stepping away can be of great benefit to the situation. This section contains a reflection activity where we ask you to think back to a recent difficult situation you experienced or witnessed at work and ask what were some of the physical sensations you felt during or after the event. |
What do you Want to do About it? |
Once you've learnt about how you feel about the difficult situation, we look at taking action and what your next steps should be. We discuss how it is likely your workplace has specific processes in place for dealing with certain difficult situations, and it's a good idea to use those if you need to. This section also contains a case study and a quiz to help further your knowledge. |
Communicating your Perspective |
Here, we learn that even if we don't want a difficult situation to repeat itself at work, it can be really challenging to actually talk about your perspective of it. We give you 4 very helpful tips in dealing with these situations and how to clarify your communication. We discuss building confidence in conversation and give you a conversational cheat sheet quiz. |
Extension Task | By this section, you'll have covered a lot of material. To really get to grips with what it all means for your workplace, you can use the reflection task to help you. Based on what you have discovered during this short course, we ask how might you change some of your behaviours around difficult situations in the future. |
