Module | What it includes |
Presentations with Purpose |
In this section, we discuss how your first task in constructing and delivering an effective presentation is working out your subject matter. We show you the importance of building your presentation around one, single, big idea. You'll learn to think about how the audience will benefit from knowing about this concept and give plenty of examples to bring it to life. We give you the tools to help you choose these goals and how to recognise the key aspects. |
Who are you and what do you want? |
In this section, we look at some of the ways you can learn about your audience to help you construct and deliver an effective presentation. Knowing your audience is a crucial part of an effective presentation. But how exactly can you get to know them? This is where your detective skills come in! We give you 4 tips to get to know your audience. This section contains an activity to further your understanding if the material. |
What to Say in your Next Presentation |
Here, we learn about making bold choices. Focusing on your big idea and your goal will help you avoid issues such as rushing, confusing your audience and overcomplicating things. We give you the building blocks for effective information and explain the different types of information that should be in your presentation. This section contains a short quiz to test your knowledge. |
Extension Task | By this section, you'll have gone from the big idea, to knowing your audience, to stacking your presentation: each of these steps will serve you well when it comes to constructing and delivering your next presentation. This final extension task is downloadable, it's a great way to get your whole presentation on a page, plus we've included some extra tips on presenting: helping you to keep it simple, focused and of course, effective. |
Working through this course will help you to identify what's urgent, what's not, and the big idea you should go for in your next presentation. You will explore what your audience wants and how to help them to care, identify four techniques to learn more about who your audience is and get to grips with 'stacking' your presentation: what information you should include or leave out. We help you push yourself and go that extra mile to help keep your next presentation simple, focused and effective.
