E-learning courses to be offered to London 2012 staff

Emergency services staff in London are set to be offered e-learning courses in order to prepare them for the rigours that will be associated with the staging of the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games, it has been revealed.

The National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) is putting on the scheme that will benefit 250,000 police and 50,000 fire and ambulance personnel, People Management reports.It is to be run in September this year and will offer advice on operational planning for the Games, including command and control structures, operating procedures and logistical arrangements.

Nick Gargan, NPIA chief executive, said: "We have produced this collaborative Tri-Service Olympic Awareness training so that the police, fire and ambulance services can prepare their staff flexibly and in a cost-effective manner."

Elsewhere, Wellington College in Crowthorne, Berkshire has announced it will be offering e-learning courses and e-read materials to its pupils in 2012.

Get Wokingham reported that the new centre is due for completion in January next year.
