The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers general fire safety in England and Wales. Local fire and rescue authorities are responsible for enforcing this legislation in most premises. HSE has enforcement responsibility on construction sites, for nuclear premises, and on ships under construction or undergoing repair.
Under the order, anyone who has control of premises or anyone who has a degree of control over certain areas or systems may be a ‘responsible person’ for example a manager/employer, owner or occupier for instance self-employed people. By law this person has to provide information, instruction and training to employees about fire precautions in the workplace.
The end of course test consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may attempt the test three times at no extra cost.
If learners do not achieve the 75% pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our support team.

If you meet the requirements of being the ‘responsible person’ you have a legal obligation to comply with fire risk assessment regulations.
